Game overview

A story-driven first-person puzzle on PC

Cognition Method screenshot of a station control room with analog consoles

Cognition Method is a single-player first-person puzzle game from Team Cognition, a small independent studio led by former Cyberpunk 2077 environment artist Timur Ozdoev. The full PC build is planned for 1 September 2026 on Steam. You play William Mortwood, a Martian Academy astronaut sent to a silent station that hauled a mysterious Artifact aboard — and lost its crew, including his son. The loop is quiet and demanding: read the station, enter the Artifact (also called the Cube in older materials), and solve rooms that change which way is down. Visual language borrows from 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris, Tadao Ando concrete, and Escher-like geometry. Expect about five to nine hours, multiple endings, Steam Achievements, full controller support, and a photo mode. If you are new, begin with the getting started guide, then learn controls and gravity puzzles. The demo walkthrough covers Initiation and the later public demo. Use the release date page and launch week with system requirements to plan the unlock. Handheld notes live on Steam Deck. The soundtrack page covers the Initiation album.
